Edit: On the upside, I'm done with it for today. On the downside, there are still things that need to be done. Freebuild still needs to get a new spawn, at minimum, but we weren't able to get to it. Permissions need to be updated to add new things to normal users. A few commands/fixes need to be added/made, and so on. I'm just done for today...screw it.


Regarding donators: If you need to get something back, then send a mail to me or blazeinpower for now. I am not in the mood to sweep through 24 pages of donations when, in order to see what was bought, you have to click into each individual purchase. I'm just not in the mood at all.

Instead of a standard drop party, for the anniversary, we decided to do something a little different due to issues drop parties have for time zones. Basically, every 30 minutes there will be 4 bosses spawned at /warp dropparty. Kill the LuckyChicken and 4 "Loot" bosses will spawn (floating chests). Kill the chests and then they will drop some fancy stuff. These bosses will spawn every 30 minutes after they die until they are removed on Tuesday, April 30th. A list of possible drops are below from highest to lowest chance:

We have received information from our TeamSpeak server host that they will be performing maintenance in the data center that we are hosted at. During this time, there will be an extended service interruption. Our TeamSpeak server is being relocated to a different data center at 4 AM EDT on April 25th. Our TeamSpeak server port may change in the process, and we will have it posted on the website for you when our server becomes available again. They currently have a downtime window of 10 hours.

*Note: This does NOT affect the website, or Minecraft server. All of our systems are seperate, only the TeamSpeak server will be undergoing maintenance.

With the reset we also said that we would be removing Factions completely from Xenon Craft. After further discussion we have decided to keep Factions on the server as they are more popular. The whole server will still be reset however, we really need a reset.

Our new plan to fix the current issue with Factions is to make it so that the Faction world has its own inventories. When everyone decides to play inside the Faction world, they must start over fresh without the ability to bring in items and take out items. This gives players a more fair advantage. Also, players will not be able to use the Faction world just for there own resources, the resources will be used for factions only because of the inventory separation  Your inventory for the Spawn, FreeBuild, and Nether will be connected and the same throughout each world except for the Faction World. This will also eliminate the issue of God Armor being unfair in PvP, since it will not exist inside the Faction World. 

The updated plan:
  • Factions WILL stay
  • Faction World inventories will be separated
  • Possibility of mcMMO re-added
  • Economy reset, everyone starting from the same amount unless your rank included money
  • EasyEnchant - Will possibly stay, however prices to create items will be significantly increased. (This is not certain)
  • Give ALL players access to Chest Shop

Colored nicknames are now available  our nickname system is 100% automated. When you go to purchase a nickname now, it will ask what you want your nickname to be, as well as the option to add a single color for $2 more. No more waiting for admins to give you your nicknames, now you can just buy them on your own!

If you want to join the server, do one of these things:
  1. Don't update (doubt that is an option for many of you, so use any of the others)
  2. Make a backup of your minecraft.jar. This can only be done if you have not updated yet. If you are using windows, search %appdata% on your computer's search bar and then go into the .minecraft folder. Then, go into your "bin" folder and copy the "minecraft.jar" to somewhere else on your computer. You have now backed up your minecraft.jar. When you want to downgrade to 1.4.7, simply use that copy you made to overwrite whatever "minecraft.jar" is in the "bin" folder after you update.
  3. Use a minecraft client downgrader program such as "mcnostalgia" to automatically downgrade to your desired version. You have to remove all mods for this to work!
  4. Use this site: http://www.minecraftmine.org/how-to-downgrade-minecraft/ to download a clean minecraft 1.4.7 client .jar and then just replace your current "minecraft.jar" with that one. Exact same as #2 except you didn't make the backup.

We will update when we can and most of the 1.5 bukkit developer build bugs are fixed. To check if there is a bukkit 1.5 build out, go here: http://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/ and look for a build built for version 1.5.

Regarding spigot: Yes, we know about it. No, we are not using it.

Once the server is updated, the nether is being regenerated so that everyone can start looking for the new materials in there.

Edit: The first development build is out. I need to test it on my desktop to see what specifically breaks.

Edit2: 8 plugins broke or aren't working correctly. Waiting on the important ones to update.

Edit3: Waiting on at least 2 more plugins before updating. The rest can just be turned off until they update.

Edit4: The server has been updated to 1.5. Use /motd to see what commands/features are disabled until they update.

Everyone has been asking for new CTF arena's. As the staff are very busy, we decided to make you guys build it! We are a hosting a contest which will allow players to design and make their own CTF arena's. You will submit the arena's to us and the best arena's will be selected and put into CTF! The winners of this contest will receive various prizes depending on the quality of your arena! You must build your arena on a single player world or a world that you can download and give to us. Every person that submits a decent arena will receive a consolation prize and the winner's will receive a prize depending on their arena. You will receive credit for building the arena, and if we have to edit it at all you will receive a copy of the edited final version. The contest will end Friday, March 1st. So get building!

Regarding Judging The Entries:
Currently, MineCrypt and midnightfang22 are busy with real-life issues so the actual judging will be delayed until we both have a free day to pick the winners and actually setup the arenas all at once, in order to save time and delays where an arena will be in the game, but not have secrets scripted into it yet (in other words, add arenas and script them at the exact same time, to prevent that). There is currently not a day set aside to do this, so there is no ETA or when the new arenas will actually be added. We are both swamped in school/work, so please be patient with this. In this time frame, players can still submit last minute entries, but the ones that were submitted on time will take priority in winning and/or setting up since they were on-time.

Things we can do for you:
~ Traps, any pitfalls/deathtraps/hidden entrances we can do for you without the hassle of redstone, and it will be much more hidden than you can do, no offence.
~ If you building on Xenon, we can build up the walls for you if we have an outline of what and where the walls are.
~ If your building on Xenon, we can duplicate one of your team bases so you wont have to rebuild it.
~ If you need flat land on Xenon, we can get it for you.
~ We will put the beacon's in place for you if your arena gets accepted.
~ If an item is not-craftable Ex. Chiseled stone brick. And you use a material that is the same market price, we can replace the two for you. If you tell us about it before hand.
~ Etc.

Rules:

Any entrants not following the rules below will be disqualified. No exceptions!
Originality. If we can find the exact same arena on PlanetMinecraft of elsewhere and not by you, it is disqualified and you are banned from ctf!
You are allowed to have, at most, 3 players help you on the entry. Any names after those 3 will not get any rewards.
Each entry MUST meet the minimum requirements below!
No secrets unless you tell us about them. We don't like being surprised with a chest full of diamond swords and such.
Nothing that requires constant reloading can be in the world. For example, TNT cannons, dispensers, and so on.
Use common sense when building
Make sure the teams are "red" and "blue". It helps to make everything consistent.
Depending on the quality of the arenas, there may be multiple winners, or no winners. Actually TRY to make something nice and not something that took 5 minutes.
Depending on the quality of the arenas, the reward may vary.
Each decent entry will receive a consolation prize.
Your entry can be done on the server or single player. However, you will NOT get creative or worldedit to build on the server.

Tips:
None of these are required, but it might help you think of ways to make your arena.
Multiple ways to get to the flag (makes it more challenging)
Nice appearance (don't make dirt houses)
Make the arena big enough that it doesn't last 5 seconds.
Be creative in how it is made or how you make you make the theme. It isn't fun to fight on maps that are essentially the same.
Use worldedit or Voxelsniper. It helps, A LOT!

Requirements For Submission:
Must have 2 spawn points and 2 flag points
Must be secure with no possible way of getting out
Must be unique. If we find the exact same arena on another website made by someone else, you are banned from all CTF arenas. Don't try it, we will check.
The flags must create a beacon light and the flags must be a beacon.

Because of this, the server isn't bringing in as much money for donations so we need to adjust our pricing a bit. Prices will change next week, so until Saturday, February 9th you can purchase any rank at the current pricing and take advantage of the current pricing now before we increase them. As you can see below, the only ranks affected are Overlord and Elite. The pricing below are as follows:

Why Are You Increasing The Prices?

Because since the release of cumulative ranks, we do not make as much donations when someone decides to upgrade there rank. Now you can upgrade ranks by paying the difference, so the new prices allow the fees to be scaled upwards more efficiently. Buycraft, the service we use to automatically sell ranks and items on the server is also now charging a service fee monthly to use all of there new updated features. Because of this, we need to put out more money monthly if we want to continue to use features such as cumulative ranks. Keep in mind, all the features in Overlord will remain the same but we always are adding more things to the ranks. If you compare our features in Overlord to some other servers, the new price is still very reasonable for all of the features that you get including a full free god armor set with the rank.

Is Anything Within The Ranks Going To Change?

No, only the prices for Elite and Overlord are going to be adjusted. No features will be removed.

I Bought Overlord Before The Price Adjustment, Does This Affect Me?

No, if you purchased a rank such as Overlord or you upgraded before the price adjustment you have nothing to worry about. Everything will remain normal and you will still have all the great features offered in your rank.

Now that its 2013, we need to start making some plans of where we want the server to go. We have many ideas that still haven't even been touched yet, so hopefully we get to those. We will be constantly looking over the suggestions section of the forums to look at any good ideas from you guys. We want it to be another great year of growth, and we need the communities help and support to continue growing. Right now our priority is tweaking the server and getting it back to peak performance for all of you. We have been working closely with our server hosting company and they are working to fix the problem. Of course, we want to keep the server interesting so we hope to release new things for you to do. Please make suggestions, we do look at them and take them into consideration. One of the ideas we have is having a huge 1 year birthday party for the server to mark its success and growth over the last year.

Cumulative ranks are finally here! What does this mean exactly? Cumulative ranks are basically if you have a rank other than Overlord, but you wish to upgrade but do not want to pay the full price of a rank you will only have to pay the difference of the upgraded rank and your current rank. For example, if you have Elite but wish to upgrade to Overlord, instead of paying $50 you pay a difference of $15 to upgrade.
